Our founder grew up in Argentina drinking mate every day. Here's how it's done.
Fill the cup
Fill your mate cup about 2/3 with yerba.
Tilt and shake
Cover, tilt and shake gently so the yerba forms a slope.
Add the bombilla
Insert the bombilla (metal straw) into the low side.
Add hot water
Pour hot water, not boiling (about 160–175°F), into the empty side. Sip, refill and enjoy.

Which cup should I pick?

I've never had mate. Is this a good place to start?
Yes, that's what the kit is for. It has everything you need, and the video above shows how to brew your first mate in a few minutes.
Is the yerba smoked?
No. Most traditional yerba is dried over wood fires. Ours is air-dried, so you get a smooth, clean flavor with no smoky aftertaste.
How do I clean the cup?
Rinse it with warm water after each use and use the included brush. Hand-wash only: the cup isn't dishwasher safe.
